Charlie Greenway’s passion for refereeing started at a young age. At just 9 years old, he asked for a referee kit and equipment, setting the stage for his future in officiating.
Charlie completed his refereeing course with LCFA in July, just in time for the new season. In his first season, he has already officiated over 100 appointments across various grassroots leagues, including the JPL, Liverpool County Cup, and his favourite assignments at the Everton and Liverpool academies.
At the age of 14, Charlie is regularly taking charge of high-level 11v11 games, working effectively with a team of officials. His notable achievements this season include refereeing an 11v11 Merseyside derby between Liverpool U13s and Everton U13s. Additionally, he was appointed to two County Cup semi-finals and topped off the season with an appointment to the U13s Liverpool County Cup final.
Moreover, Charlie is a dedicated member of Bootle RA, rarely missing a meeting. He finds the presentations invaluable to his development and enjoys the opportunity to learn from experienced officials.
Overall, we are incredibly proud of Charlie and all our young referees who are just starting their journeys. Their dedication and growth over the season are truly commendable.
Furthermore, Charlie is already looking forward to continuing his refereeing journey next season, eager to build on his experiences and successes.
