One of the many benefits of being a member of Bootle Referees’ Society is the opportunity to officiate at Marine FC’s pre-season fixtures through our long-standing partnership with the club.
For many years, Bootle Referees’ Society has proudly supplied the match officials for Marine’s programme of pre-season friendlies. These fixtures provide an excellent development opportunity for referees and assistant referees, allowing members to gain valuable experience in a competitive environment alongside colleagues from across the refereeing pathway.
Pre-season football often brings together clubs from different levels of the football pyramid, giving our officials exposure to a variety of playing styles, experienced players and management teams. For many members, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to work alongside higher-level referees, observe different approaches to match management, and continue their own development ahead of the new season.
The partnership reflects the strong relationship that has been built between Bootle Referees’ Society and Marine FC over many years. Rather than a financial arrangement, the agreement is based on mutual support. In return for providing match officials for Marine’s pre-season fixtures, the club kindly provides Bootle Referees’ Society with the use of its room facilities throughout the season.
This allows the Society to continue holding its regular members’ meetings in an excellent venue. Our meetings bring referees together to discuss the Laws of the Game, hear from experienced guest speakers, explore match incidents, share knowledge and experiences, and build relationships with fellow officials. It’s an important part of creating a supportive refereeing community where members can continue learning throughout the season.
The partnership is an excellent example of how local football clubs and referees’ societies can work together to strengthen the game. Marine FC benefits from experienced, reliable match officials for its pre-season programme, while our members gain access to high-quality fixtures that help prepare them for the challenges of the season ahead.
